Shelter / Water
Housing and water are both among the most basic needs of every person; moreover, access to clean water plays a significant role in health, hygiene and sanitation.
Working in 3 provinces of Burundi, New Family for Development is glad to have rehoused 500 families of former refugees, orphans, widows and other vulnerable people in proper homes.
The organisation is also actively engaged in restoring water sources and making existing natural water sources accessible for local communities. In this way it has made clean water available to about 10,000 homes and some schools – well over 50,000 people. Most recently it has been able to bring water to a small community in the north of the country - Cibitoke Province and to help this community build durable housing complete with toilets and solar panels!
